Graduate Programs
Our graduate program offers a solid, professional-level foundation in classical mechanics, electrodynamics, quantum mechanics, and statistical mechanics/thermodynamics.
Faculty and students carry out cutting-edge research that is advancing the fundamental state of knowledge in many fields. There are many opportunities for students to get involved in research.
Graduates leave UT Dallas with an academic background worthy of international respect and a research foundation for careers in science. Graduate degree holders from UT Dallas have risen to become leaders in industry and academia, as well as at government laboratories in a wide range of fields.
For the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physics program, the admissions committee would examine, among other things, the proficiency of candidates in upper-level undergraduate courses. See, for instance, courses (PHYS 33xx and 43xx) listed in the BS Physics catalog:

All students must meet their advisor, Dr. Yuri Gartstein each semester to determine course prerequisites, course content, enrollment, degree completion, and similar matters.
